Working/Resting

22 May 2016

A good friend of mine always says, “if you want something to get done, give it to someone busy”. I’ve been juggling work with studying and currently back and forward between Spain and the UK. With my masters finishing in 2 weeks from now I’m looking forward to a well deserved rest and time to focus on my own music.

A good friend of mine always says, “if you want something to get done, give it to someone busy”. I’ve been juggling work with studying and currently back and forward between Spain and the UK. With my masters finishing in 2 weeks from now I’m looking forward to a well deserved rest and time to focus on my own music.

I find being busy keeps me in a productive state of mind. Not having much to do can lead to feeling stale which can be the death of work and focus for me. In the midst of breaking from studying and enjoying the Valencia sun, I aim to stay disciplined and productive, while being kind to myself observing the fourth commandment to rest!

Here’s some food for thought- Do we rest in order to recover from a hard days work, or do we rest to prepare for the coming day? Having been working on adrenaline and very little sleep I’m reminded that in order for us to get the best out of a day, it needs the best of us. Working under pressure is definitely a drive and a healthy amount of stress leads to more productivity. For this I work well under deadlines. However, before I come across as a hypocrite and say “do as I say and not as I do,” I am working on a balance of work and rest and looking forward to enjoying practicing and working feeling rested and more focused.

I’ll be uploading some of what I’ve been working on recently so please feel free to leave a comment or drop me a message and let me know your thoughts!
